Restaurants in Cairns!

English

My top recommendation: Prawn Star!

Everything about it—location, atmosphere, flavor, and value for money—is top notch. This unique boat-restaurant is moored just a short walk from the Pier in Cairns, heading toward the ocean. The setting alone is worth a visit.

The photo above shows their Mixed Prawns plate (AUD $35), which comes piled high with fresh, juicy prawns on a generous platter. It’s served with lime wedges and dipping sauces, but honestly, the prawns are so flavorful on their own that I found myself eating them just as they were—nonstop.

And of course, the cold beer pairs perfectly. Highly recommended for anyone who loves seafood and wants a memorable Cairns experience right on the water.

By the way, Australia is a treasure trove of fresh ingredients.

Australia is a vast country—roughly 20 times the size of Japan—yet its population is only about 20% of Japan’s.
With a food self-sufficiency rate exceeding 200%, it enjoys an incredibly rich supply of fresh, local ingredients.

If you’re familiar with Japan, you might think of Australia as having a similar feel to Hokkaido in terms of its connection to nature and agriculture. That said, Australia is actually over 90 times the size of Hokkaido—an almost unimaginable scale!

Final Thoughts

This time’s top pick: Prawn Star!
Not only is the food absolutely delicious and reasonably priced, but dining on the water also makes for a truly unforgettable experience.

By the way, you can make a reservation directly through their website. Even same-day bookings are possible if there’s availability, so it’s a good idea to check ahead and secure your spot before heading over.
